Participants at the annual CES event have observed a range of new faceplates designed for the PlayStation 5 'slim' version, along with their corresponding DualSense controllers.
Displayed in the images above and credited to The Verge, the faceplates belong to the Deep Earth Collection and feature shades like Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver. This line-up coincidentally matches the one unveiled for the original PS5 in September of the previous year.
"In conceptualizing this fresh series of DualSense controller and PS5 cover colors, our muse was the striking and dynamic colors that reside within Earth's underbelly. We infused each color with a metallic sheen to bring an element of elegance," stated designer Satoshi Aoyagi previously.
When introducing the redesigned PS5 in 2023, Sony announced that an assortment of new cover options would be made available for the slender version "commencing early 2024". This range includes the showcased Deep Earth Collection and an entirely matte black option.
Although specifics remain undisclosed, Sony has hinted at future color variants to be launched subsequently.
The soon-to-be-released PS5 console covers will start at £44.99/$54.99 when they hit the market.
Regarding the PS5 Slim, it boasts a reduction in volume by 30 percent compared to its predecessor, and for the regular and digital editions, it's lighter by 18 percent and 24 percent, respectively. The digital edition features a detachable panel, allowing users the flexibility to include a drive if they decide to switch to a console supporting physical media in the future.
